AWANA has begun for the 2008-2009 year. We welcome all the "oldtimers" back and we are excited to greet and welcome the "newcomers". A schedule of events is posted on the church's website. AWANA
is an international organization with over 40,000 clubs worldwide.
AWANA is a kids club where clubbers learn more about Jesus by
reciting and memorizing versus during workbook time, by listening to
guest speakers during council time and play exciting games
during
a time for games. The acrostic, AWANA, stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed" and is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 which says: "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." A club called TREK for grades 6-8 is held at the same time as AWANA but has a separate game time, a more indepth Bible study and handbook material geared toward the older age group. Our AWANA Club at Flint Hills Community Church is for grades K-5. The AWANA clubbers are divided into two different clubs according to age groups. Sparks are for grades K-2. Sparkies have their own handbook that they work out of. Their schedule mirrors that of the TNT, with an opening ceremony, singing time and council time with the TNT kids then handbook time and games by themselves. Both groups combine again for awards at the end of the night. Truth and Training (TNT) is for grades 3-5. TNT's also have a separate handbook. TNT's schedule is oriented around the Sparkies. TNT's combine with the Sparkies for an opening ceremony, singing time and council time then participate in their own separate game time followed by their own handbook work time. Both groups combine for awards at the end of the night. We welcome all children in these age groups to come. Club is in session from September through April on Sunday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm. See you there!!! November 3, 2008 Updated
