Mary Helen Cradit Peach,
82, passed away at the home of her daughter with her family at her side
on Sunday, August 19. A memorial service is scheduled at the
Flint Hills Community Church in Cottonwood Falls, KS on Thursday,
August 23 at 10 a.m.
Mary was born April 8,
1925 in Tarkio, MO to Wilber Edward and Myrtle E. Cradit. Her family
later moved to the Clovercliff Ranch in Chase County, KS where her
father worked as a foreman. She spent her youth in Cottonwood
Falls, KS, graduating from Chase County Community High School.
After graduation, she joined the Army Nurses Corp. during World War II
and received her RN from St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Throughout
her life, Mary was active in nursing at Newman Hospital and St.
Mary’s Hospital, the Lyon County Health Department and Emporia
State University Health Center until her retirement in 1985. In July
1947, she married Meredyth White of Emporia and had five children.
Later she married Noah (Shorty) Peach of Emporia and spent her
retirement years enjoying 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded
in death by her son Bruce White and husband Shorty Peach, sister Martha
and brother George. Survivors include daughter Virginia King and her
husband Rusty of Overland Park, KS; daughter Marlene Miltz and her
husband Steve of Americus, KS; daughter Carol Giger and her husband
Alan of Elmdale, KS; son Wayne White and his wife Deborah of Prairie
Village, KS; a sister-in-law Mildred Park of Overland Park; niece
Margaret Stout of Overland Park; sister Emma Jean Larsen of
Springfield, Ohio.
