June C. Talkington, of
rural Matfield Green, Kansas, died Sunday
afternoon, June 10, 2007, at his home. A celebration of life
service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Flint Hills
Community Church in Cottonwood Falls with Pastor Jim Bartsch and Rev.
John Ratzlaff officiating. Interment will follow in the
Matfield
Green Cemetery with military honors by a Fort Riley Honor Guard.
June Calvin Talkington was born January 10, 1928 in Matfield Green, to
Ralph Kenneth and Margaret Mockry Talkington. He married
Phyllis
Mae Kewley February 27, 1966 at the Grace Methodist Church in
Emporia. He was a farmer / rancher all of his life.
He was
a member of the Flint Hills Community Church in Cottonwood
Falls.
He helped with the Livestock Shows during the Chase County Fair and
served on 4-H committees. He belonged to the Pork Producers
and
served on the Water Shed Board. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
June is survived by his wife Phyllis of the home, son William D.
Talkington of Matfield Green, two daughters: Mary Ann Quay and Shelley
Chiasson, both of Matfield Green, two brothers, Donald and Eugene, both
of Matfield Green, eleven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and
two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents
and four brothers: Harold, Charles, Wilbur, and Merton Talkington.
Memorials may be designated to the Flint Hills Community Church or Hand
in Hand Hospice. Friends may call at the
Brown-Bennett-Alexander
Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00
P.M. and at the Flint Hills Community Church after 5:00 P.M. on
Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 6:30 P.M. until
7:30 P.M. at the church Wednesday. Friends may call at the
church
Thursday 9:00 A.M. until service time. Memorials may be sent
